How’s life?
I’m dying
Pain
Depression
Bro, you already know I’m suffering, why tf are you asking again?
Momentarily alive
Somehow I’m not dead yet
We don’t talk about that-
These are all the responses I have received to a simple question over the past week. Honestly, I didn’t think much about it, but being the over-thinker I am…I am now writing a blog on it.
Next, when you ask these same people why?
You get petty answers like homework, assignments and commitments they chose themselves. Otherwise, you get some abstract stupidity which sounds posh and philosophical, but is really just fluff.
(People end up finishing their assignments and work most of the time anyways)
Truth is, life isn’t even bad. We just think it is bad and talk about how we are all suffering when most people have never seen really or experienced real suffering first hand. Everyone jokingly pretending to be depressed undermines the struggles of the people who really are depressed. Being depressed isn’t something to be proud about, although it kind of has become in my school corridors.
It just feels odd to hear answers like “life is great” nowadays, most probably because or how rare they are.
If we ask these same people how people around them are - “they’re partying bro while I’m stuck here suffering”. This is again a ridiculous popular misconception 🙄
Realistically, if you’re unhappy with life, do something about it. Otherwise, learn how to be happy. For all we know, what we’re saying jokingly nowadays might end up becoming the reality very soon…and that would really suck.
